Helsby Success in Border League Series 2000/2001 season
Helsby Running Club had one of its most successful Border League series winning the following awards:-
First Senior Mens Team; First Veteran Mens Team; Most improved Senior Ladies Team. Individual awards were awarded to Ian Wetherall overall winner; Graham McNeil 2nd overall and Paul Boilaeu 3rd overall, Kathryn Roberts 2nd senior lady, in the veteran categories Paul Frodsham 1st over 40 and veteran champion; Mark Hinson 2nd over 40; Graham McAra 3rd over 45; Robbie Webster 2nd over 60.

First team prize in our own Four Villages Half Marathon

The club fielded the winning mens team in our own premier event held on 21st January 2001. Winning team members were Paul Frodsham (9th), Mark Hinson (10th), Ian Simpson (11th) and Paul Boileau (30th). Paul also took the first local man prize and Lucy Gallon the first local ladies award.

Cheshire Cross Country Champions 2001

Helsby Senior Mens Team took the Cheshire Team Title in the County's Cross Country Championships, held at Hartford on Sunday, 7th January 2001, the first time we have achieved this honour. The mens veterans team took third place in the veterans category. Individual prizes went to Ian Wetherall who was second overall, Mark Hinson won the over 40 Cheshire Medal and Roy Tunstall taking the over 60 award,

West Cheshire 5km Road Race - 3 club members score PBs in the event, Ian Wetherall (15min 5sec), Graham McNeil (15 mins 56sec) & Kathryn Roberts (19min 04 sec).

Capenhurst Team Challenge Winning Team - Paul Frodsham, Graham McNeil and Paul Price won the 8 mile team event with team name "2+1".

Deeside Off-Road Series Success 2000 - Mark Hinson took the overall series award along with the first over 40 position, with club mate Graham McNeil taking the first senior award at the Deeside Off-Road series. Frank Stevens finished 8th over 40 and Graham McAra 3rd over 45.

A second place in the 2000 English Junior Fell Championships for Laura
Laura French finished 2nd in the under 18 age category at the last race in this years English Fell Championship races held at Sedbergh, (a 2.5 mileevent with 2000 ft climb) to take second place over the series.

Wayne Percival completes his Paddy Buckley Round - 10th July 1999

Time for his round is 24:02 hours which includes an additional peak - north summit of Moelwyn Mawr - to the 'standard' round. Alec Robinson & Andy Smith of the club joined Wayne's support team for the Snowdon leg.
